The second edition of the book “Advocate’s Code of Professional Ethics: scientific commentary” was published under the auspices of the Federal Chamber of Advocates of Russia and the Institute of Advocacy of the Oleg Kutafin Moscow State Academy of Law. First Vice President of the FCA of Russia, Doctor-at-Law Yury Pilipenko is the author of the book.

Getting the Deal Through, a competent international edition for corporate lawyers and practitioners published a material on the perspectives of franchising in Russia drawn up by the experts of the Law Firm "YUST": Partner Evgeny Zhilin, Partner, Advocate, Doctor-at-Law Anna Kotova-Smolenskaya, Advocate Denis Shumskiy.

Resolution No. 58 adopted by the Plenum of the HCA of Russia on 30.07.2013 explained procedural peculiarities inherent in the consideration of cases on contesting normative legal acts for the purpose of ensuring a uniform approach to their settlement in the courts of arbitration. Associate Arthur Sabitov of the Law Firm "YUST" gave to “Ezh-Yurist” newspaper an expert’s commentary on the consequences of application of the position formulated by the HCA of Russia.

The Chair of Labor Law of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” held on September 18 a round table with the participation of Boris Gorokhov, Chairman of the court jury on labor and social matters of the Court Board on civil cases of the Supreme Court of Russia. Distinguished representatives of scientific community, trade unions, employers, law firms and advocates’ community were among those invited. Three years ago, after a series of big crimes committed by militia officers, the Russian Penal Code was expanded to include a norm that made the work in the law enforcement agencies an aggravating circumstance for the accused – clause “o” of Article 63. However, there is no unanimity regarding its application, in particular to corrupt officers. Advocate Alexander Petrov of the Law Firm "YUST" commented on the problem for the Pravo.RU news portal.

The FAS permitted Ragato Management, an off-shore company of Mikhail Prokhorov, to purchase 30% of the shares of Kvadra, which the businessman has been trying to sell since 2011. According to information from non-official sources, the structures of Mr. Prokhorov have consolidated 81% of Kvadra’s shares, and that obliges them to make an offer to the minority shareholders, which they had avoided since 2008. Meanwhile, there is a resolution by the Plenum of the Higher Court of Arbitration in preparation that may oblige M/Prokhorov to offer to the Kvadra minority shareholders a price that is much higher than the current market price. This autumn, the experts’ community will discuss the amendments to the law on advocacy within the framework of the “Justice” program that was approved by the Government of Russia in April of 2013. One of the program’s purposes is introduction of the advocate’s monopoly in the Russian sphere of legal services. Yury Pilipenko, Managing Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", First Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Advocates, shared his expert’s views on the current situation with the “Direct Investments” magazine (No. 9, 2013).

The Law Firm "YUST"’s application was successfully drafted as a result of the additional selection of organizations in the nomination “Legal Counsel” for the state corporation “Deposits’ Insurance Agency” (DIA). The firm was included in the list of specialized organizations entitles to render services to the Agency during dissolution of credit organizations.

Pressured by the State, Domodedovo Airport disclosed its beneficiary. Quite expectedly, Dmitry Kamenschik was announced, just like before the IPO of 2011 that was not held. The matter of disclosure of the beneficiary is directly linked to the provision of public funding to the airport. However, it is not known, to what extent public officials will be satisfied with the information. First, such answer could be given anytime, and they clearly expected more. Second, sources of the Kommersant newspaper have stated that Mr. Kamenschik is, at the very least, not the only owner of Domodedovo.
